HURRICANE SEASON IS HERE!

It’s time to get prepared!

Have flashlights, battery operated radio and additional batteries on hand.

Stay informed about the weather between now and November.

Purchase water bottles, canned food, medicines to last for 1 week.

Make plans with friends or start checking hotels where you might stay in the mainland to  for 1-2 nights.   THERE ARE A LOT OF PET PRIENDLY HOTELS.  YOU CAN ALWAYS CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION IF THEY DO NOT MAKE IT MANDATORY TO LEAVE THE ISLAND.

Check your storm shutters now and lubricate them.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE OUT OF TOWN DURING HURRICANE SEASON I SUGGEST YOU CLOSE THE SHUTTERS OR HIRE SOMEONE THAT WOULD DO THIS FOR YOU.

Cars nor boats should  be left on the island during a hurricane.

Miami Dade County Mayor decides if and when Key Biscayne should evacuate.

DIAL 311 FOR EVACUATION INFORMATION.

Hurricane Wilma:

These pictures are from hurricane Wilma. Even though it was not mandatory to evacuate the island because it didn't hit the Miami area, look what happened to my yard. Winds were around 60 to 70 mile per hour.
